Our expert team specialise in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with emerging and established cognitive dysfunction. This includes problems with memory, speech, praxis and executive function. These conditions may be temporary (e.g. concussion) or degenerative (e.g. dementia).
There is a growing range of treatment options and lifestyle recommendations for patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and Mild Alzheimer Disease. New infusion therapies have been approved for use in Australia that can slow disease progression for some patients with MCI and Mild Alzheimer Disease. We provide treatments through the Alzheimer DIsease Infusion Service.
Neuropsychology testing, a process that takes several hours and enables an in-depth understanding of cognitive strengths and weaknesses. The results of these tests are used to help diagnose cognitive dysfunction, dementia and also document the effects of head-trauma and concussion. Direct referrals from GPs are welcome, although specialist Neurology assessment is recommended. There are currently no MBS item numbers that cover the costs of Neuropsychology tests.
