Adjunct Associate Professor Katherine Buzzard is the Clinical Lead of the MS and Neuroimmunology Service at Eastern Health in Melbourne and is a consultant in the MSNI unit and the Myasthenia Gravis Clinic at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
After finishing a BSc(hons) at the University of Melbourne, Associate Professor Buzzard completed a PhD in cancer biology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute before embarking on a medical degree in 2001. She graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2005 and subsequently undertook her neurology training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Alfred Hospital, before heading to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London as the ANZAN overseas fellow. Associate Professor Buzzard has completed subspeciality fellowships in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology.
She remains active in the academic research sphere, leading the MS and Neuroimmunology research program at the Eastern Clinical School, Monash University. A highlight of her research career was the launch of MGBase, the first global observational registry for patients with myasthenia gravis, where she remains the co-chair of the MGBase scientific leadership group.
