Dr Nicholas Crump

Dr Nicholas Crump is a highly qualified neurologist with subspecialty training in Neuroimmunology, Neuromuscular medicine, and Clinical Neurophysiology.   He obtained his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 1999, and completed post-graduate Neurology training at Barwon Health, Monash Medical Centre, and Austin Health.  Dr Crump has a long history of providing neurological services to northern Melbourne and northeast Victoria through visiting services to Epping and Shepparton, as well as our Heidelberg rooms.

Dr Crump also has an appointment at Austin Health as a senior neurologist in the Neuroimmunology/Neuromuscular clinic, as well as being Director of Clinical Neurophysiology and Head of the Neurodiagnostic Laboratory.  Dr Crump has a passion and commitment to training, particularly in teaching nerve conduction studies and EMG.

Research has been fundamental throughout his career, with involvement in many clinical trials in multiple sclerosis (MS) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).  Dr Crump is currently undertaking a major investigator-led study exploring the role of ultrasound in diagnosing and assessing patients with CIDP, and works with international collaborators in research utilising neuromuscular ultrasound.

In addition to management of general neurological disorders including epilepsy and Parkinson disease, Dr Crump is well versed in the comprehensive management of headaches and migraines, including injectable treatments.

Dr Crump is particularly interested in the management of immune-mediated and inflammatory conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles such as MS, myasthenia gravis, and CIDP.  Dr Crump performs routine nerve conduction studies (NCS) and EMG at all sites and provides comprehensive neuromuscular assessments of both consult and NCS/EMG in a single session.
