Kar-Yan graduated from University of Melbourne and completed her specialty training in neurology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Cabrini Hospital and Western Hospital. She currently holds a Fellowship at The Alfred Hospital in Neurophysiology and Movement Disorders and is an Honorary Ffellow at Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
